Industrial Building Heating with Infrared Heaters — DneproSpecMash Project

In August 2016, Teplov specialists implemented a heating project for the DneproSpecMash production facility in Dnipro.

The production facility covered 676 m². The task was to provide electric heating and maintain an indoor temperature of approximately +18 °C.

The system included 13 Teplov U6000 infrared heaters.

For this type of facility, the heating system is designed according to the floor area, building structure, heat losses, room height and required temperature. More information about solutions for industrial facilities is available in the industrial heating of production facilities.

Production Facility Characteristics

The DneproSpecMash facility had a total area of 676 m².

The heating system had to take the characteristics of the production building into account and provide the required indoor temperature.

When designing heating systems for industrial buildings, factors such as floor area, height, thermal insulation, glazing, heat losses and the required temperature should be considered.

Project Requirements

The main task was to provide electric heating for the production facility.

The required indoor temperature was approximately +18 °C.

Winter operating conditions were also taken into account. According to the project information, the system operated without adjustment of the heating mode when the outdoor temperature dropped to −20 °C.

Solution — Infrared Heating of the Industrial Building

The production facility was equipped with 13 Teplov U6000 infrared heaters.

The U6000 is a high-power Teplov model designed for industrial applications. The current product page provides the technical specifications and application conditions of the model.

How Infrared Heating Works in Production Facilities

Infrared heating differs from systems in which most heat is transferred through heating and movement of air.

Infrared radiation transfers thermal energy to surfaces and objects within the heater's radiation zone. Therefore, system design should consider not only the total building volume, but also the location of working areas, building structure and the direction of heat radiation.

For production facilities, this makes it possible to organise heating according to the actual use of the building.

For different equipment options, see the ceiling infrared heaters.

Heating a Large Production Facility

A 676 m² facility requires a heating system designed according to the characteristics of the actual building.

When selecting equipment for a production facility, the following parameters should be considered:

  • floor area;
  • ceiling height;
  • thermal insulation;
  • glazing;
  • heat losses;
  • required temperature;
  • operating schedule;
  • characteristics of working areas.

The number and power of heaters should therefore not be determined by floor area alone.

Project Result

An electric infrared heating system was implemented at the DneproSpecMash production facility.

The 676 m² facility was equipped with 13 Teplov U6000 heaters. The required indoor temperature was approximately +18 °C.

The project information also records system operation without adjustment of the heating mode at outdoor temperatures down to −20 °C.

The facility is a practical example of applying infrared heating to a large production building.

Infrared Heating for Industrial Buildings

Production buildings can differ significantly in floor area, height, thermal insulation and operating conditions. Heating systems should therefore be selected according to the characteristics of each specific facility.

Teplov uses different infrared heater models depending on the heating task, required capacity and operating conditions.

Other Teplov Industrial Projects

The Teplov portfolio includes heating projects for production facilities, workshops, warehouse complexes and other industrial buildings.

One of these projects is workshop heating without gas.
